How to Activate Starlink With an Existing Account

When I got an additional Starlink kit, I did not want to create another account. Fortunately, Starlink allows existing customers to add another Starlink through the activation process. I just needed the device identifier and my existing account details.

Steps to Activate Starlink With an Existing Account

1. Set Up Your Starlink Kit

Connect your Starlink dish, router, and power supply. Then connect your phone or another device to the STARLINK Wi-Fi network.

Starlink recommends using the Starlink app during setup and activation.

2. Open Starlink.com/Activate

Go to Starlink.com/Activate and start the activation process. The official activation page asks for your Starlink identifier.

3. Enter Your Starlink Identifier

Enter the device identifier associated with your new Starlink kit.

If you have the original box, look for the Kit ID. You can also find the Terminal ID through the Starlink app after connecting to the Starlink Wi-Fi network.

4. Select “Existing Account”

After entering the device ID, choose Existing Account instead of creating a new account.

Starlink specifically confirms that customers with an existing account can activate an additional Starlink by entering the device ID and selecting Existing Account.

5. Sign In to Your Account

Follow the prompts to connect the new Starlink to your existing account. Make sure you use the same account you want to manage the new service from.

6. Enter Your Service Address

Provide the location where you will use the new Starlink. The country associated with the service must match the country connected to your account.

7. Choose a Service Plan

Select an available service plan for the new Starlink.

Adding another Starlink normally creates a new service line. It does not automatically cancel or change your existing Starlink subscription.

8. Add Payment Information

Review the payment details and any charges shown during activation. When a purchased retail or third-party Starlink is added to an existing account, Starlink says the charge can be prorated based on the plan and remaining billing period.

9. Complete the Activation

Review your account, service address, plan, and payment information, then follow the final on-screen instructions to complete activation.

Once activated, the new Starlink should appear as another service line in your account.

10. Check Your New Starlink

Open the Starlink app and check the new connection. Make sure the correct Starlink hardware and service line are associated with your account.

If you no longer want to use an older Starlink, remember that adding the new one does not automatically cancel the previous subscription.

11. If Activation Does Not Work

If you receive an error, check the device identifier and make sure the Starlink is not already assigned to another account. Starlink also does not support activating a Starlink in a different country from the country used when the account was originally created.

If the kit is currently assigned to another account, it may need to be transferred or released before you can activate it.

Final Thoughts

Activating an additional Starlink with an existing account is simple. Enter your Starlink identifier at the activation page, select Existing Account, and follow the prompts to choose your service plan and complete payment. The new Starlink is normally added as a separate service line, while your existing subscription remains unchanged.
